Yet again.
Here we go...
Yet again.
I have to start over yet again.
This is what I thought to myself when I realized this past week that it’s the end of Q1 and I didn’t accomplish nearly as much as I wanted to these past three months. I started the year off relatively strong, but seasonal affective disorder hit me like a bag of bricks this year. By mid-February, I was in survival mode. Life almost felt like a movie. Waking up, going to work, doing my best, going home, falling asleep, and repeat.
The fog finally lifted towards the end of March (and of course after I started working out more, so unfortunately, “they” are right about the benefits of working out haha). The fog may have lifted, but in its place were feelings of disappointment and annoyance.
There’s a delicate balance between self-discipline and consistency vs. showing yourself grace. So when I thought to myself, “yet again,” I chose to sit with the feeling instead of ignoring it or using grace as an excuse for not being consistent or disciplined in Q1.
Yes, we have to show ourselves grace.
But we also have to be realistic with ourselves too.
In fact, self-discipline is a form of self-care. So in conjunction with the fun habits and rituals like reading, massages, meditation, and more, lies being consistent and holding ourselves accountable.
Yes, I have to start over yet again, but I’m grateful for another chance to start over and feeling more ready than ever before.
If you too have to start over yet again, sit with feelings and hold space for any emotions that arise (for me it was disappointment in myself and maybe some shame). Then get up and try again.
Until next time, take care of yourself,
Imani
📓 I’m Planning Again!
My seasonal affective disorder was so bad this year that I lost a desire to plan. Planning simply didn’t spark joy for me. Now that I am feeling better, I’m back in my A5 Planner and ready to get my life organized again.
In this latest YouTube video, I plan for April and the upcoming week (and share a major life update)! Check it out:
